Multi-Dimensional Layered Security (MDLS™)

ensuren GlobeInformation security encompasses all aspects of computer (digital) security focused on securing all layers of a computing environment. Information security as an industry is focused on securing each of the layers individually by offering multiple security functions. A Layered Security approach focuses on offering and promoting procedures and technology to support the multiple layers of a properly secured computing environment. The Layered approach exponentially increases the cost and difficulty of penetration for an attacker or malicious code by combining different security products to create a defensive barrier much stronger than the individual components. Thus, layered security significantly decreases the likelihood that an intrusion will occur.

Ensuren has developed a security model that promotes and supports layered security in computing environments. Ensuren’s Multi-Dimensional Layered Security (MDLS™) model addresses security by function (i.e., verification, authentication, examination, detection, encryption) and computing layer (i.e., personnel, network, operating system, application, database). Ensuren’s MDLS™ model is applicable across all computing environments and is expandable as new technologies and security functions are defined. The MDLS™ Model incorporates more traditional life-cycle methodologies and “best practices”, but focuses on defining and implementing a layered security architecture that results in computing environments being hardened to a baseline.

Ensuren’s MDLS™Model and corresponding guidelines can be delivered in multiple phases allowing an organization to adjust to new security procedures and practices, while supporting annual budgets.
